I had always find myself responding in some manner to my immediate environment. On beaches I tend to become somewhat of a doodler and have found that these doodles not only have some sense of meaning for me but are the basis of patterns found across time and cultures.Gradually I have begun to realise that such doodles are to some degree both archetypal and yet currently significant at a personal level....in a sense they seem to represent a kind of lexicon. I have since begun to codify this mark making in my painting.
